At the start of the day I immediately checked the Voicemail to see if anyone left a message, but no body was home only a few missed calls. I was at the box waiting for my mentor for a few minutes so I went over some of the computer work I learned on the first day. As Val arrived we got right to work. We ran through the Front Desk HQ system which is a pretty cool data base for monitoring the business and members. Over the last few days there were a few new members who signed up so I was going to be in charge of setting up their files both online and in a folder so they could be kept with all the other hard copies. In addition to setting up new members I was put in charge of sending follow up emails to all those people who dropped in over the last few days. These emails are sent from the organizations main email address along with a generic email asking how his or her experience was and if they had any comments. All visitors and new members are to sign a liability waiver form before they are allowed to par take in any activity within the box. These waivers sometimes have written notes on them, for example, from out town so wanted to get a work out in or interested in fundamentals/joining GSP.
These members who are interested in joining, will get a follow up email describing our monthly membership rates and over them any promotions that may be going on. These promotions help compete with our competitors in hopes that we get their Yes versus someone else. During training a member wanted to buy Progenex single serving recovery packet. This was my first sale as an intern and it went smoothly. They picked which one they wanted and the transaction was made. Since the member paid with cash, it was written down in our log book and entered into the cash register. The cash register is counted daily and deposited every monday into the business account, this will be something I handle later on down the road if Val is unable to make it to the bank. In addition to going over the computer system, Val and I discussed the upcoming schedule and informed me that I would be flying solo on Friday. She had complete faith in me that I could handle it since I have been a member for almost a year and know the system pretty well. She did tell me that it is generally a slower day so not to worry.
